A Billion a Month of Nevada Gambling
25 May 2006
The Nevada State Gaming Control Board has announced that it is not irregular for the Nevada land casinos to collectively take in over a billion dollars a month in gambling revenue. For the third consecutive month in 2006, and for the seventh month in a twelve month period, Nevada casinos topped the $1 billion mark in monthly gambling wins. The $1.06 billion collected during March was the second- highest total ever, topped only by the $1.14 billion won from gambling in January.
The March 2006 figure was a 3 % swell from the $1.03 billion casinos won from gambling customers in March 2005, the first time casinos ever won more than $1 billion from gamblers. Frank Streshley, senior research analyst for the Gaming Control Board, said the March 2005 total gambling win was a 10 % increase from the previous year, making the 2006 gambling win even more impressive.
Whatever Nevada is doing, it is doing it right. With talk of Atlantic City also bringing in mega millions from gambling and beginning to attract increasing larger crowds of gamblers, Las Vegas might be in for a small fight. But if these figures are anything to go by, there is enough gambling money to go around…and then some!
